  • Here’s a shoutout to Madison “Maddie” Glick of Ohio

    Madison “Maddie” Glick of Ohio

Now that Carmine Salvatore Yusko’s girlfriend is no longer a minor (much to his disappointment, we’re sure), we’re naming her. Madison “Maddie” Glick, 18 years old and a legal adult as of February 28, 2025, of Ohio thought nothing of helping her boyfriend Carmine keep Charisma from my brother and from us, even though we relayed our concerns for Charisma’s health to Madison and begged her to do the right thing on behalf of an innocent cat who was caught in the crossfire created by her boyfriend. She refused, and in addition to giving us the runaround, this is what she texted my brother:

As shown in the screenshot, Madison texted my brother demanding information on the whereabouts of another person Carmine wanted to track down (this is another person Carmine committed criminal acts against), and insinuated that if my brother provided that information (which he did not have; and wouldn’t have given even if he did), she would speak with Carmine and ensure the safe return of Charisma.

Madison, now that you’re a legal adult, you should know that you can and will be held legally accountable for your actions. We hope that as you prepare to start college at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, you strive to be a better adult than your boyfriend is. You can start by not enabling anyone to withhold a cat from their owner, and to speak out against animal abuse, even if the perpetrator is your own boyfriend. We also hope you meet a boy closer to your age while you’re in college, so that you’ll be able to experience a relationship where both people are on equal footing. Unless/until you do, you’ll be preyed on and taken advantage of, though unfortunately, if Carmine is good enough at grooming and love-bombing, you won’t realize it and might even defend his predatory actions. (Although truthfully, Maddie, you should know that Carmine has been involved with at least two other women these past few months – we would know because both contacted us to share their experiences and express their concerns after recognizing red flags in his behavior and subsequently googling his name – which led them straight to this blog.)

Be sure to follow Madison and all her cat-abuse-enabling adventures on Instagram at @mellymaddie. In case you need a reminder, her boyfriend is Carmine Salvatore Yusko of Philadelphia (South Philly to be exact), and when he isn’t generating an income via abusing and extorting vulnerable individuals, he performs as a singer, though word has it he has been ripping people off in that industry, too. You can follow Carmine on Instagram at @carmineyusko1.

  • Carmine Salvatore Yusko is in jail!

Carmine Salvatore Yusko is in jail!

We won’t sugarcoat it: we are ecstatic to learn Carmine Salvatore Yusko is currently incarcerated at a Missouri county jail. In addition to harassing and extorting thousands of dollars out of my disabled brother, illegally evicting him, physically assaulting him, and attempting to kill his medically-fragile ESA cat, Carmine has been busy committing other crimes, too.

But as we ourselves promised him back in March, when we successfully secured an emergency PFA to remove him from his rental home (which he was later evicted from, presumably because his landlord didn’t appreciate knowing the house was being used as a flop house and a trap house, drugs being present in the house because Carmine is an active user of them, and police being repeatedly called to the home because of all of the issues Carmine created by hurting others) in order to rescue my brother’s cat and retrieve his belongings, karma would come for him. His refusal to accept $100 no-questions-asked cash in return for the safe return of Charisma and astounding arrogance would be his undoing. I, along with another woman (someone who is also connected to one of Carmine’s victims), would be his undoing.

And karma has arrived, courtesy of that woman! Last week Philadelphia issued a warrant for Carmine’s arrest, because he is charged with a series of crimes related to his transgressions against an acquaintance of my brother, a man who was similarly vulnerable and was grossly taken advantage of by Carmine.

Even better, after Missouri picked him up on the warrant, Missouri and Philadelphia both agreed Carmine is a flight risk and poses imminent danger to his victims – SO HE IS BEING HELD WITHOUT BOND. Carmine remains at the mercy of Missouri and Pennsylvania, and he will continue to sit in a Missouri county jail for as long as it takes for Philadelphia to collect him and then incarcerate him in their jail, should Pennsylvania decide they do want to spend the money/resources to extradite him from Missouri back to Philadelphia. (I speak from personal experience when I say that even same-state facility transfers can take several weeks, so there is a very good possibility Carmine will be stuck in that Missouri jail for months. A girl can dream, right?)

We love that for him. Carmine Salvatore Yusko deserves nothing less than the situation he is currently in, and we’re here for every minute, docket, and court hearing of it.

    Charisma sends her regards.

  • Carmine Salvatore Yusko physically assaulted a disabled man (and also abused and tried to kill his ESA cat).

⚠️⚠️⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: physical assault ⚠️⚠️⚠️

If Carmine Salvatore Yusko (d/b/a Yusko Enterprises) thought nothing of repeatedly physically assaulting a disabled man, imagine what he did to Charisma, a defenseless 5-lb medically-disabled cat (besides trying to kill her). We only know of one choking incident – something tells me he hurt her more than once.

Carmine attacked my disabled brother (who couldn’t defend himself) because he was frustrated my brother had no more money to give him and no way to find more money for him (the original audio is heartbreaking to listen to), and because he was angry with a mutual friend, and apparently that was my brother’s burden to bear.

This is one of several videos depicting Carmine Yusko assaulting and threatening my disabled brother. (This incident took place in February 2025.)

    ABOUT ME:

My name is Jenn, and I reside in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I’m 40 years old, and I have been with my husband, Daniel, for almost 25 years. Together we have two young adult children: Alyssa and Ryan. I work full-time in a residential drug and alcohol rehab, and I’m a devoted cat rescuer.

    ABOUT CAT RESCUE:

Since 2020 Alyssa and I have been heavily involved in cat rescue efforts in our local community, and we network with independent rescuers, rescues, shelters, and other organizations that provide services for stray/community cats. In the last five years we have rescued 50+ cats each year – those cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, socialized, and adopted out. In addition, we pitch in with TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return: the catching and sterilizing of strays, and if suitable homes cannot be found or the cats themselves are not suited for indoor life due to being feral, they are returned to where they were found). We also assist with transports, locating lost cats, first aid/basic medical care, and pitching in via numerous other ways to help stray/community cats live better lives. We are very passionate about what we do, and we always prioritize cats’ health and wellbeing.

    ABOUT CHARISMA:

    Zelda and her kittens
    Zelda and her kittens

Charisma and her seven siblings (two mothers with two litters (5, 2) – most likely the same male sired them) were found two backyards apart on October 12, 2021 – we estimated the kittens were about two weeks old (est. DOB: 10/01/2021). One mother was present with some of the kittens, so all came home with us for rescue (we did locate the other mother, but repeated trapping efforts were unsuccessful). Over the course of the next few months, mama and kittens were all taken care of, and ultimately, my disabled brother, henceforth known as Brother, adopted one of them – a female we had named Charisma. He met her during Christmas of 2021 and fell immediately in love with her – and her with him. They were meant to be from the moment they met. Brother couldn’t wait to adopt her and share his life with her.

    CHARISMA’S ILLNESS:

In the spring of 2023 Charisma became incredibly ill – she had dry (neuro/ocular) FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Because symptoms are vague, FIP is a diagnosis of exclusion, and medication has not been widely available or even regulated, even if veterinarians can accurately diagnose FIP, they often recommend euthanasia, as the disease, regardless of form (wet/dry/neuro), is ultimately fatal – and cats will languish and suffer for months during their decline. Because of the vague symptoms and gradual decline, we didn’t catch just how sick Charisma was until her FIP had greatly progressed.

Charisma was very, VERY sick when we started treatment – not only did we start her on daily injections (the average treatment lasts three months), but she was so ill and so weak she was lateral (unable to stand), and unable to orally consume anything. We administered subcutaneous fluids, placed a naso-gastric feeding tube, diapered her and kept her undercarriage clean, and turned her like a little roast every few hours to prevent bedsores. We truly held our collective breath and braced ourselves, and Brother, for her death.

CHARISMA’S SURVIVAL / TRIUMPH OVER FIP:

Against many odds, Charisma survived! In the fall of 2023 she was healthy enough to return to Brother, who was overjoyed to be reunited with his soul kitty. He visited her several times while she was fostered with us for her FIP treatment, but anyone who has pets know visits aren’t the same as having your pet home with you.

    Charisma is a proud survivor!
Charisma is reunited with her human.

    BROTHER’S MOVE:

Yearning for a fresh start after the death of our mother in June of 2024, and wanting to be in a more urban environment with easier access to resources and job opportunities, Brother decided to relocate from a small town in Chester county, Pennsylvania, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He decided to rent a room from someone he thought was a trusted friend – Carmine Salvatore Yusko (d/b/a Yusko Enterprises).

Brother moved in to Carmine’s rental on February 1, 2025, though the written subletting agreement (image), stipulating my brother would pay $600 per month in exchange for renting a room (a basement) wasn’t signed by both parties until February 8, 2025. In addition to the written subletting agreement signed by both Brother and Carmine, they had to fill out and sign a document that went straight to Social Security – this document is what Brother’s rep payee utilized to direct $600 per month right to Carmine (Carmine would later deny filling out and signing these forms, instead accusing Brother of forging his signature – though why Brother would falsify documents that financially benefitted Carmine to the tune of $600/month is an answer even a judge could not get out of Carmine). (image)

The first rent payment of $600 was given to Carmine on February 4, 2025, when Brother finished moving himself and Charisma in – along with an additional $340.00 that Carmine insisted Brother had to pay him for various “expenses” (these were never detailed, but my brother, needing somewhere to live, and assuming the best of someone he thought was his friend, complied and paid the total “owed” balance of $940.00).

“CARMINE YUSKO IS HOLDING CHARISMA HOSTAGE!”

On Monday, March 3, 2025, shortly before 9:00pm, I was at work when my phone began blowing up. It didn’t take long for the pieces to come together:

    • On February 20, 2025 (11 days prior), Brother and Carmine got into a verbal altercation, and Brother was abruptly and illegally kicked out of the house
    • Brother made multiple attempts over the following 11 days to re-enter the home – Brother also begged for Charisma’s safe return
    • Carmine denied all requests to return Charisma
    • Carmine continued (this apparently had been going on for quite some time) extorting money out of Brother, promising Charisma wouldn’t be harmed so long as Brother complied and paid (my brother did his best to pay what he could – keep in mind my brother’s only source of income is Social Security, as he is disabled)
      • Between legitimate rent (one month) and extortion, Brother paid Carmine a total of $3,821.31 over the course of a year. (image)
    • Carmine did reply to Brother’s text messages about Charisma’s food and litter to confirm she was “doing very well” – in the same message he demanded more money from Brother (image)
    • Carmine’s alleged-to-be-a-minor* girlfriend, M.G., also taunted Brother about Charisma’s whereabouts (image) *in case she is a minor, unless/until we confirm otherwise we are withholding her name
    • Brother was extremely concerned harm would or may already had come to Charisma
    • Brother did notify the police several times – reports were eventually taken, and at one point officers did respond to Carmine’s home, but he denied having Charisma and he denied the officers entry so they could search, and the cops did not push the matter further
    • Brother also notified various social workers (they advised him to continue pressuring the police to help; they also recommend Brother go to court to file against Carmine for the illegal eviction and theft of Charisma and his other belongings)
    • Multiple mutual friends of Brother and Carmine tried unsuccessfully to intervene and secure Charisma for Brother. But at the very least, they were able to relay to Brother that Charisma was in the home and being looked after (the friends were stopping over to give her food and water). One mutual confirmed laying eyes on Charisma on the afternoon of the very day we rescued her! Thanks to these messages, including one relayed by a mutual while we were waiting for the police to oust Carmine via the PFA order, we remained optimistic.

    WE GET INVOLVED:

Because I was still at work, Alyssa did the bulk of communicating – with Brother to get as much info as possible, and then with everyone under the sun except Carmine himself, because I guess it’s easy to threaten a cat, but not so easy to be confronted by other people regarding your choice to be an animal abuser. Alyssa got the runaround from Carmine’s friend (Marc Oliverio), who spent nearly eight minutes on a phone call (image) vacillating between denying knowledge of Charisma, then confirming he knew where she was, then being vague again; and then from his alleged-to-be-a-minor girlfriend, M.G.; and Carmine would not answer Alyssa when she reached out to him directly.

When I had the opportunity, I contacted Carmine himself. I was polite but direct: I explained who I was, Charisma’s rescue story, and more importantly, her medical history, and the fact that no matter what had transpired between Brother and Carmine, punishing a cat by withholding her from her family/the rescue who can properly care for her and depriving her of proper care was tantamount to animal abuse. I made it clear that if he would not willingly relinquish Charisma back to Brother and/or to me, we would involve the authorities (police). I instead proposed to Carmine that I would come to Philadelphia as soon as that night to retrieve Charisma, and in return I would give him $100 cash as a thank you for caring for her.

Carmine ignored my specific advice to not call my bluff (that I would involve authorities in order to secure Charisma, but would much rather keep things simple by offering him $100 cash for her), and his pompous, arrogant, and very dishonest responses included the following:

    • He didn’t have Charisma
    • He is best friends with police officers (image)
    • Charisma had been abandoned over a month ago (13 days had lapsed since he illegally evicted Brother)
    • A threat of a lawsuit for slander* *slander is spoken, libel is written, and neither apply when all that is spoken/written is truth (image)
    • He has a lawyer on permanent retainer (image)
    • He is a good pet owner because he rescued a German Shepherd (image)
    • He has no idea what happened to Charisma
    • Charisma was adopted by loving people, but he isn’t “at liberty” to divulge their personal info to us (image)
    • Redundant and irrelevant requests for business information I don’t have because we are independent cat rescuers and not a registered for-profit business (image)
    • Mentions of alleged, assumed-to-be-non-existent college degrees (image)
    • Threats of his dog harming Charisma (image)
    • A demand for the “requested info” about my non-existent registered for-profit business, stating that it was his “legal right” to demand all he asked for
    • More denials that Charisma was in his home (image)

My last words to Carmine were to reiterate my offer of $100 cash, no-questions-asked, in return for Charisma, and the advice to not call my bluff. Carmine chose not to accept that offer or heed that advice – I wonder if he regrets that now (I truly hope he does).

ALYSSA AND I GO TO PHILADELPHIA, PART 1:

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, we go to Philadelphia. We meet up with Brother, and the three of us go to the police station. The police officers hear us out, confirm they remember visiting the residence, a detailed report of the calls my Brother made, the home visit the police officers themselves made, and our visit that day is compiled and provided to us, and Brother is instructed to go to court on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in order to request an emergency PFA. If granted, that PFA would give Brother access to the home, Carmine might very well end up evicted from the home due to him being the aggressor as well as illegally evicting Brother, and in either event it would be a win for Brother because we would be able to get inside the house, with a police presence if necessary, in order to find Charisma. Not relevant, but still relevant: the police officers made several comments indicating they knew exactly who Carmine was from prior dealings, they weren’t surprised to hear of the allegations, and they were prepared for him to “be difficult” and were ready to “put him in cuffs if it comes to it” (if that is the kind of “friendship” Carmine has with police officers, then he has a weird idea as to what a friendship is).

ALYSSA AND I GO TO PHILADELPHIA, PART 2:

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, we leave the house before 6:00am, pick up Brother, and arrive at court promptly at 8:00am. Shortly before noon, (11:40am) after hours of waiting, and Brother going in front of a judge twice in order to answer any questions the judge might have had about what was in the police report (and what Brother himself had to say about the situation), we have great news: THE EMERGENCY PFA WAS GRANTED – and the judge ordered Carmine to be immediately evicted from the home.

We went back to the police station, received confirmation officers would head to the home to evict Carmine, and we were sent to a nearby store parking lot to wait. Finally, at 1:55pm, the PFA was successfully served. However, as the police officers themselves had predicted to us that day, serving the PFA proved “difficult”, because Carmine was full of excuses, justifications, and begging, but unsurprisingly he was in short supply of the permanently-retained lawyers he had bragged about two days prior – none whatsoever appeared at the home to bail him out of his current predicament (the one I like to call FAFO). None of his supposedly-existing police officer friends stopped the PFA from being executed, either. But it wasn’t until almost 3:30pm when we got into the home ourselves, because Carmine had a lot of complaints and pleas for the officers, including:

    • He had nowhere to go (neither did Brother on February 20, 2025, but that didn’t stop Carmine from throwing him to the streets)
    • He didn’t have a vehicle to go anywhere in (false – we texted screenshots of messages between Brother and Carmine confirming that Carmine’s previously-stolen vehicle had been retrieved weeks prior) (image)
    • He had nowhere for his German Shepherd to go (unfortunately, not our problem – initially we told the police that if Brother stayed in the residence, he’d give Carmine 24 hours to make arrangements to pick up the dog, via a police escort; otherwise the dog would be surrendered to a shelter or rescue; we also said that if we ultimately just entered the home to retrieve Charisma and Brother’s belongings, we would put down ample amounts of food and water prior to leaving)
    • [insert other ineffective excuses and whining on Carmine’s part to the police officers here]

Finally, after nearly four stressful hours of waiting and a lot of back-and-forth phone calls between the police officers and us, because Carmine kept begging and pleading to be allowed to stay in the home (during each conversation we simply repeatedly stated, “We don’t care what Carmine’s problems are as a result of him being evicted today. He should have thought of that before he did what he did. He cannot stay. You have a court-ordered PFA instructing eviction – SO EVICT HIM.”), we got the call: Carmine was out, so we could enter the home. The officer remarked they did not see any sign of a cat in the home, but we were still trusting the information relayed by Brother’s mutual friends – we just hoped she was still alive, but simply hiding since Brother wasn’t there.

    WE GET INTO THE HOUSE.

When we parted ways with the police, we were warned that Carmine was hustling to the police station to file a counter report, then to the courthouse to get his own PFA, then back to the police station to get the PFA enforced, and somehow, despite rush-hour traffic picking up, the court house closing at 4:00pm, and it taking us two days to accomplish what Carmine was now going to try and accomplish himself, he really thought it was going to happen in 30 minutes – in Philadelphia pre-rush-hour traffic.

Still, being prepared for Carmine to think nothing of breaking more laws, we raced to the home, and made our way in. Carmine smartly locked the front door, to which he had the only key, but he dumbly forgot the back door didn’t lock at all – and since Brother lived there, he knew this. So while I contemplated what I was going to break a window with, if that’s what it came to (I had settled on a pair of bolt-cutters that had been riding around in my trunk for several weeks), Brother went around back, hopped the fence, and let himself into the house – then came around front and let us in.

We immediately ran to the basement, because that is where Brother stayed. To our dismay, we found Charisma’s food bowl, empty and tossed in a sink; Charisma’s water fountain, empty of water but filled with cigarette butts, behind a dryer; and a plastic storage bin lid covering her litter box – but we did not find Charisma.

Note: Charisma’s items being hidden from immediate view explains why the police told us they didn’t see a cat in the home – our theory is after Carmine received the texts and calls from Alyssa and I on Monday night, despite his bravado and arrogance towards us, in actuality he panicked, because deep down he knew I was coming for him, so he hid Charisma and her supplies so that they wouldn’t be visible if an officer performed only a cursory glance through his home.

After clearing the basement, we descended upon the upper levels. Brother and Alyssa hit the main floor, working their way through the living room, kitchen, and even the back yard. I ran upstairs, straight into the room ahead of me, because its door was closed and I found that odd, since the other bedroom door was open.

This bedroom was small, and I had “cleared” it, until I realized I didn’t look under the large dresser. I dropped to the floor with my phone’s flashlight on, peered underneath, and spotted tote bags…AND A TAIL.

    CHARISMA IS ALIVE!

We held out hope and endured a terrible rollercoaster of emotions over a period of 44 hours, and our prayers were answered: Charisma was alive and right in front of me! She was under the dresser, with several tote bags crammed in front of her. I angled my head for a better view of the rest of her – she was alive, alert, and looking right at me! As soon as I said her name I started sobbing, and she gave a little chirpy greeting in response. I tried to pull her out, but she was too far back for me to reach, and the opening beneath the dresser was too short for me to get my arm any further beneath it to grab a hold of her body. I started screaming for Alyssa and Brother. Brother didn’t hear me (I think he had gone back down to the basement), but Alyssa came running.

“She’s here! She’s here! She’s alive!” I screamed as she entered the room. Brother came up behind her. I instructed him to go get the pet carrier we had brought, and then, after shutting the bedroom door to prevent her accidental escape into the rest of the house (too many hiding spots, plus a very nervous and stressed-out German Shepherd who deserves a much better owner than the one he is currently with), I channeled all of my relief and my rage into enough strength to lift that very large, very heavy dresser up enough for Alyssa to reach under and pull Charisma out.

Alyssa embraces Charisma tightly (right after we found her alive)!
Alyssa embraces Charisma tightly (right after we found her alive)!

After we secured Charisma in a carrier and locked her in my SUV (along with a bowl of water – there was no food or water in the closed-up room we found Charisma in, which suggests to me she had been there since Monday night, thus Carmine was planning on killing her by depriving her of water and food), we switched gears to packing up Brother’s belongings. We weren’t sure how much time we had, because considering I couldn’t exactly trust Carmine to be a law-abiding citizen, or even a decent human being who is kind to animals, I didn’t trust him to not violate the PFA.

Packing Brother’s belongings was like going on a treasure hunt because Carmine had taken it upon himself to sell some of Brother’s things, and to absorb everything left into his own household. Even though Brother had rented the basement, his things were everywhere throughout that house – in the small guest bedroom where we found Charisma, in Carmine’s bedroom, in both bathrooms, and of course throughout the living room and kitchen.

While we hurriedly packed, other people began showing up. Brother knew most of them, and their stories were the same: they were currently/formerly homeless individuals who had lived there for X amount of days/weeks/months until Carmine reneged on their agreements, illegally evicted them, but kept their money and personal belongings. Obviously word had spread that Carmine was out of the home, and those people obviously knew about the unlocked back door, because that’s how they all began streaming into the home. They, too, began frantically packing up their belongings – and all were relieved that Charisma was okay after all. All were also ecstatic that someone came along to teach Carmine a lesson about being a terrible human being.

CARMINE YUSKO VIOLATES A PFA ORDER.

Are you surprised Carmine returned and attempted to illegally re-enter his own home? I wasn’t surprised. It’s for this reason we locked Charisma securely in my SUV, and for this reason we were packing very quickly – we were expecting he would attempt to return to spew more fake threats, false allegations, and lies.

As soon as Carmine returned (about half an hour after we found Charisma), he burst in through the front door and started screaming at anyone but also no one particular, just whoever was closest – that happened to be Alyssa. Fortunately, when Carmine realized others were in his home besides Brother, Alyssa, and myself, he foolishly ran back outside to call the police, and we used that opportunity to shut his front door and throw the deadbolt – which he did not have a key to.

With Carmine securely locked out of the home, the packing continued, but we also called the police and told them what had happened, and requested help immediately. We actually had almost all of Brother’s stuff packed, but there were still 2-3 trips to make to the SUV, plus things had to be packed into the SUV, and Alyssa and I did not feel comfortable exiting the home with him out front between the house and my SUV. This is a man who thinks nothing of manipulating and exploiting a disabled man and then trying to kill a defenseless cat, remember?

While we waited for the police to arrive, Alyssa thoughtfully drew down the blinds over the front window, which effectively stopped Carmine from watching our every move and screaming some more. (I have to admit, the image of his shocked expression as his own blinds on his own window of his own home were closed on him, preventing him from seeing into his own home, is one that will live rent-free in my head for a very long time.)

The police (all 10 squad cars of them) very quickly arrived (the police station was only two blocks away, and I’m sure the officers were bracing for such a call, given their comments to us earlier, and how long it took them to finally kick Carmine to the curb), and after they spent several minutes speaking with an enraged, screaming, barely-decipherable Carmine, they came in to speak with us. We remained calm and cordial, and got right to the point – we showed them the PFA paperwork we had, while Carmine stood outside and continued to lie by saying he had his own PFA (yet he had no paperwork – and when an officer called a superior to check, it was confirmed Carmine was, unsurprisingly, lying yet again).

Us in Carmine Yusko’s living room.

The police were very supportive – when Carmine tried to burst in once more, nearly mowing down Alyssa in the process, five officers tackled him against a wall and shoved him back outside. They gave Brother, Alyssa, and I the space and security to finish grabbing Brother’s things and loading up my SUV, and they also made Carmine wait outside while all the other people he had scammed and screwed over packed their things. I thought that was a nice touch, given that technically, the PFA only gave Brother access to the home to get his things. But ethics and morals won out over technicalities, and I’m very grateful for that (as are, I’m sure, Carmine’s other victims).

YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE MONEY.

After the SUV was packed up, we made one last trip inside the home to do a quick sweep to ensure nothing had been left behind (there was a large grandfather clock that I had no way of transporting, and most of Brother’s clothes had also been left because they were scattered everywhere and we didn’t have time to find them all). Four officers were still inside the home, while six more surrounded Carmine outside. As we came out, I heard one officer remarking to Carmine about his [drug] stash in the master bedroom (we had seen it, too, but as illicit drugs aren’t of interest to any of us, and we were only there for Brother’s belongings and could not have cared less about Carmine’s, we left it right where we found it).

Because I’m a petty bitch, even though I didn’t really mean it in that moment, because it was so very satisfying to have been the delivery driver and an observer of instant karma, as we passed Carmine, I said to him, “You should have just taken the money”. After all, he could have been $100 richer and one cat poorer, still have my brother’s belongings, still have belongings belonging to several other people, and have kept his meth habit a secret. But he just couldn’t resist the opportunity to be cruel for no other reason than he wanted to, and look where that decision got him.

    Carmine’s reaction? More unintelligible screaming.

    CHARISMA IS OKAY!

After we left Carmine’s now-ransacked home, we stopped for gas, then drove Brother to his temporary-but-much-more-secure accommodations. Due to traffic and rain that drive took nearly two hours, but that gave Brother time to bond with Charisma. Despite her harrowing ordeal, she was okay, and very happy to see us. She rotated laps, purred, and kneaded contentedly as we showered her with loving words and lots of physical affection.

    Charisma snuggles with Alyssa.

It had previously been agreed that if we were able to rescue Charisma, she would remain with us, because we can provide her with stability that, for right now, Brother cannot. So after we dropped Brother off at his temporary residence, Alyssa and I headed home with Charisma.

    Charisma snuggles with Jenn.

As soon as we got Charisma home, we gave her more water (she also had access to water in the car), checked her over to make sure she didn’t need subcutaneous fluids or any other medical attention, and then, assured she was “okay”, we fed her – I think this video speaks for itself as to how hungry she was:

Charisma eating for the first time in 48 hours (ignore background noise – Alyssa was greeting our cats)

Alyssa and I also grabbed some food to eat, and shortly after all of us crashed into our beds (Charisma was given a heated tent at the foot of my side of our bed, and a non-heated but fuzzy bed underneath the head of my husband’s side of our bed – she rotates between them).

    LATER THAT NIGHT…

In the middle of the night after getting home with Charisma I checked my phone and found a slew of angry texts from Carmine that I’m assuming he sent after partaking in his DOC and/or alcohol, as some of the messages are a bit disorganized and out-of-control sounding. Choice ones include:

    • more insinuations that Brother falsified documents so Carmine could benefit from $600 per month, and a demand for money he most certainly isn’t owed (it’s the other way around, Carmine) that he hopes he’ll be paid because he doesn’t want to waste time suing [Brother? Me? Brother and I? I’m not sure which!] in court (image)
    • name-dropping lawyers he obviously doesn’t have on permanent retainer, as he previously claimed
    • false accusations of his personal property being stolen (Brother, Alyssa, and I only took Brother’s belongings and nothing more, and nothing was disturbed by us. I cannot say the same for the others who were in the house, however, as we had nothing to do with what they were doing, and we were too busy dealing with Brother’s belongings to keep tabs on anyone else.)
    • “[Brother]’s going to be in jail for a long time” (image)
    • false accusations of his Xfinity account being compromised (image)
    • threats of freezing assets (image)
    • something-something-something a judge signing off on something being burglary?
    • HE HAS A TEAM OF LAWYERS, OKAY!? (image)
    • Carmine’s back door, which he himself left unlocked due to not having a key, through which the other people he ripped off entered to retrieve their belongings, is apparently our responsibility (image)
    • And last but not least, he ended with calling me a “fucking idiot” – this, from a man who turned down the opportunity to unload a cat without having to kill it and dispose of the body and $100 cash for the trouble, and instead had his house and life turned upside down in under an hour, and who will also be reaping all sorts of other repercussions – but I’m the idiot. AFTERMATH

    • Charisma is okay!
    • We found almost all of my brother’s belongings, excepting some documents that are replaceable
    • We retrieved most of my brother’s electronics, including a laptop Carmine helped himself to (and loaded his personally-identifying information onto).
    • We are currently rebuilding my brother’s wardrobe with the help of friends, and my local community (thank you).
    • We did not find my mother’s ashes – we’re assuming Carmine discarded them, as he had bragged to others about doing. (Fortunately my brother only had a very small amount of her ashes – there are more.)
    • The post-Charisma-rescue exhaustion/exhilaration is the weirdest combination of contradicting emotions I’ve ever experienced – it took me days to settle down into a sense of normalcy.
    • Further legal action against Carmine Salvatore Yusko for the multitude of crimes he committed against Brother, Brother’s ESA cat Charisma, and other individuals is currently underway.

We love you so, SO much, Charizzy. We’re so glad you’re okay!
